Assessment Services
Our library includes standardized instruments from which we draw to conduct neurological, psychological, and psycho-educational testing. We often select measures across these domains depending on the complexity of the clinical profile.
Neuropsychological Assessment
A neuropsychological assessment provides information specific to cognitive functioning across five domains: attention, language, memory, visual-spatial, and executive function. Our neuropsychological evaluations are tailored to the specific goals of the individual seeking assessment or to the specific questions of the referring specialist. Once we review the available clinical records and conduct the clinical interview, our psychologists choose instruments appropriate to the diagnostic question. During the administration process, we may add additional measures to tease out anomalies that arise in the data. We also support individuals and their practitioners who have questions related to memory issues. We collaborate with providers to establish baselines from which to measure change, and we offer recommendations for symptom mitigation through support and behavioral plans. Our goal is to understand our patients' strengths while identifying relative weaknesses that interfere with their ability to compete with peers or function at a level that is expected based on their age. Our goal is to provide our clients with hope and a map that will clarify what needs to be in place and what they can do to optimize their performance.
Psychological Assessment
A psychological assessment provides information specific to understanding how an individual perceives and responds to information. The assessment begins with gathering a complete and comprehensive developmental history to include, family history, interpersonal and social history, educational history, trauma history, and behavioral history. The goal is to understand the factors and the experiences that inform social, emotional, and behavioral functioning. Our assessments guide treatment, so that our patients can be the best version of themselves.
Psychoeducation Assessment
A psychoeducational assessment is completed for the purpose of identifying factors that may be interfering with a student's ability to learn. Specifically, we evaluate students for learning disabilities, other health impairments, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism. We also provide psychoeducational assessments for college students who need accommodations under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
